I adored this man,
for being the age he is, he can rock, sure the sound wasnt great, im 19 and i grew up listening to this man, thinking he was family.
i smiled i danced, i cant believed people walked out, you must not love him like i do, i hummed and hawed about getting tickets, but i thought he might not be able to come to the island again. the songs were excellent, chimes of freedom and all along the watchtower brought tears to my eyes, and he totally rocked thunder on the mountain, great performance, for true dylan lovers, i was in awe for a chance just to see him, so impressed,
i just wish he did changing of the guard, but its okay,
haters will hate,
thanks bob for making it a memory that will last a lifetime

figures he would choose those that he could poke sarcastic remarks upon..i should have known. A weak effort on his part to attempt humour but what did i expect from someone like him anyway...silly me.

apparently there has been a lot of comments made about the paper review..enough that they are going to put some in the colonist tomorrow. lets peek shall we?
Great show, forget what Times Columnist says.
I can't remember the last time I smiled for two hours straight but I couldn't keep the grin off my house for the whole show. The set list was great. I can't believe I got to hear Chimes of Freedom live. No hockey arena will ever achieve great sound but I thought the engineers did a great job considering. I could hear each instrument quite distinctly and maybe it was because I know most of the words I heard Bob Dylan's voice just fine. Maybe it's because I wear ear plugs to concerts (hint hint to all the people who claim they couldn't understand anything.) The band was awesome. I really liked how they play Girl of the North Country.
Come back soon Bob- and play Not Dark Yet next time!

I was really choked to hear the ragging on about the sound and how people were walking out. Obviously those people didnt go there to see bob..they were there for some reason unknown to me. To pan the sound is one thing..but to diss the mans performance because they were under the impression he was going to suddenly appear before them 35 yrs old.. is ridiculous.
I heard every word in every song and my seat wasnt that great, but then, i know the songs and knew what to expect. What i recieved was a very moving evening as he played every song that i needed to hear. Even if i didnt hear the songs i hoped to, there are so many favorite songs from every album i have bought, that the only thing that mattered was..i was there.
People that write reviews like the one i saw from the colonist should stick to their bubble gum tunes and stay home watching reruns of the brady bunch. IMHO. For the record.. the show in vancouver was apparently AWESOME~! (of course it was! .. and i sure wish i was there for that)

Superb concert.
I read the local rag's review and like people who are given free tickets to a show that they don't know...
they are disappointed.
I guess he didn't see the people on the floor standing for the entire show or hear the rousing ovations. Listening to the set list today, makes me feel reflective in similar lyrics of my life and maybe, we were all on the same page in Victoria for just one night.

Man In The Long Black Coat
Crickets are chirpin', the water is high,
There's a soft cotton dress on the line hangin' dry,
Window wide open, African trees
Bent over backwards from a hurricane breeze.
Not a word of goodbye, note even a note,
She gone with the man
In the long black coat.
Somebody seen him hanging around
At the old dance hall on the outskirts of town,
He looked into her eyes when she stopped to ask
If he wanted to dance, he had a face like a mask.
Somebody said from the Bible he'd quote
There was dust on the man
In the long black coat.
Preacher was a talkin' there's a sermon he gave,
He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied.
It ain't easy to swallow, it sticks in the throat,
She gave her heart to the man
In the long black coat.
There are no mistakes in life some people say
It is true sometimes you can see it that way.
But people don't live or die, people just float.
She went with the man
In the long black coat.
There's smoke on the water, it's been there since June,
Tree trunks uprooted, 'neath the high crescent moon
Feel the pulse and vibration and the rumbling force
Somebody is out there beating the dead horse.
She never said nothing there was nothing she wrote,
She gone with the man
In the long black coat.

I loved it, I particularly loved the way Just Like a Woman was played... Beautiful! True the sound could have been a bit better but it's what Victoria's got.. that and come on it's Dylan!!! It was awesome loved the set !!!

From my seat in the back of the hockey arena in section 114, the sound quality was so poor I could not decipher the music from the noise. On the second to the last song, Like a rolling stone, plugging my ears allowed me to muffle the din/echos enough to make out what sounded like recognisable music. In a better venue or in a different seat it might have been better. I will never go to the SOFA for music again.
PS I also fell asleep early in the show. $80 wasted. Disappointed in the venue, disappointed in not getting to hear Bob Dylan. I will have to be content with my Dylan CD collection, books, sheet music.

I have to say victoria does bring out the best in everyone. I had a fantastic night and Bob was simply amazing.
A little mic problems but that didnt stop him.. he even pulled out the harp for us. Bob is always amazing... that goes without saying. I hope the show in vancouver is as wonderful as he was for us Islanders. Please come back again soon!
