Hi hlonsdale,
Being a huge Bob fan myself I'm always checking to see what shows are like from other fans....especially because I'm preparing for back to back shows in London and Oshawa next week.
I've seen Bob at least twice a year or more since the 90's and can say that he rarely picks up the guitar anymore....although I heard he picked it up a few shows this year...
His keyboard skills are incredible - I think he achieves lift off when playing.
I understand that you were disappointed with him not singing any songs like the original recordings but in the shows I've seen, the songs are always different - that's how he keeps things so exciting.....and yes, the times are changin', and so is Bob's music.
I can appreciate hearing everyone's opinions but I think a lot of fans out there expect to hear the Dylan they want to hear, not the Dylan he wants us to hear.....
I'm glad you made it out and I hope you will give another Bob concert a chance - we both know he's just awesome!
Thanks a bunch for your posting fellow Canadian friend!
MelBain.

The accoustics in Rexall are not terrible. I've been to several concerts (Johnny Cash, Kiss, AC/DC, Metallica, Nickleback, etc...) and have never had any complaints with the accoustics or sound quality. This conert though sucked. Plain and simple. People in my section started leaving after the first song. I read some other concert reviews on line from other venues and it seems that other people had the same complaints and experience that I did. I really hope that they (Bob Dylan and his crew) can look at adjusting their speakers and mixing so that all people in attendence can hear and enjoy whats going on.
I really looked forward to this concert, and it was a terrible let down.

I went to the concert last night in Edmonton. Third time for me. I've been an avid concert goer, big names, close seats, got my kids into it. Seen a lot of great shows with them.
Bob Dylan has been my music hero for most of life, listened to him since 1970, from the age of 5, my absolute hero, songs that have really meant something to me . I took my two kids, ages 24 and 22, both as big fans as I am. For them and for me, seeing him together was a thrill of a lifetime. Very exciting.
My kids were very excited and thought that it was great, being very close to Bob (2nd row) , but for me I was very disappointed in the way the songs were performed. At the end, they all seemed to sound the same. I don't recall any old song that was performed even close to the original. I'm not saying they have be to same as the recording, but it seemed to me that there was no melody to them, the timing was different, it was almost as if there was a bad Bob Dylan impersonator doing his songs, when it really was Bob Dylan. Sorry, Bob, of all of the concerts I have seen in my life, I have to say that yours was the worst. Bob didn't play the guitar at all.
He played "I used to care, but things have changed", great song, but I thought that it was very true, that Bob used to care about the show he put, but things have changed.
Couldn't hear anything...

My grandmother passed away last month, we played some Bob Dylan at her funeral. Needless to say things haven't been easy.
So my wife and I got tickets for ourselves and my mother to see Bob Dylan live, a living legend. (I saw Johnny Cash in 96 at Rexall, he was awesome). Thought it would be a great time together. We drove 2.5 hours to get to Edmonton.
We were in section 221, high and to the right of the stage (the bands right), but we could see everything. After the first two songs, people started to leave the conert in our section. We couldn't make out a word Mr. Dylan was singing, and the sound of the band was distorted.
I hope that for their next concerts they try to fix the sound for those not fortunate enough to get floor tickets. We had friends on the floor and they said it was fantastic.
Edmonton is lucky to hear Bob Dylan live
The show in Edmonton was as great as the one in 2002August. My favourite was "Highway 61". I bought a poster to add to my collection. Thanks, Bob. -PHILIP
Totally Awesome!!!!
Wicked show, Bob looked like he was having fun as well. I also gotta give props to the Edmonton crowd. Just further proves that we are a great city to play. Keep it up! Highlights: Desolation Row, Ain't Talkin', and Bob's dancin'.

Great show - The tech person had the sound a little too loud so it was sometimes hard to hear Bob sing. "The band" was outstanding but too loud. I bought another t-shirt for my collection. Acoustics in Edmonton Rexall Place are terrible. A energetic presentation by the master.

He didn't open with "Cat's in the Well", he opened with Rainy Day Women. Anyways, awesome show. I've been to 4 of his shows since 1998, and this was by far the best. "Thunder on the Mountain" was excellent.
